Court documents say a 16 year old boy was recently arrested and charged in juvenile court for making threats to shoot up Taylorsville High School.

Another student went to the school resource officer and told him what he had heard….and showed a recording he made on his cellphone of the other teen looking at weapons on a laptop at school.

Granite School District spokesman Ben Horsley says they applaud that student.

‘We’re just grateful that when the student saw something, they reported it and that helped us to work with law enforcement to ensure student safety,” said Horsley.

They encourage all to always report unsafe behavior, to a trusted adult or through the anonymous text alert line or SafeUT smartphone app.

The court documents say the suspect was cooperative, and told police he had decided a school shooting was not a way to solve problems.
