The Utah Highway Patrol reports that seatbelt use across the state is at a five-year low.
A DPS survey says the person most likely to buckle up in Utah, is a woman driving a van on a primary road in Davis County.
The person least likely to wear a seatbelt is a man driving a truck on a rural road in San Juan County.
88.8 percent of drivers and passengers this year were wearing seatbelts, up 1 percent from last year.
UDOT’s John Gleason says it should be 100 percent.
“Make it a policy, that everyone in your family, everyone of your friends, anyone who gets in your car, you have to buckle up before you start the car,” he said.
Seatbelt use was 18 percent for the first survey in 1986. Utah only made seat-belt use mandatory in May 2015.
