SALT LAKE CITY — New numbers from the Governor Gary Herbert’s office just a day before he announces his proposed budget for 2018.

The report estimates the legislature will have 579 million dollars to work with this next session. It isn’t all up for grabs. 60 million dollars is already spoken for and 35 million dollars will be set aside in rainy day accounts. That leaves about 360 million dollars in ongoing funds to divy out and more than 101 million in one-time funds.

In a press release today Governor Herbert said, “Utah’s continued economic growth provides the revenues that will allow the State of Utah to make critical investments in our long-term future, including education.”

Herbert’s budget recommendations will be released on Wednesday, December 13th.
