Utah governor among those calling for Congress to help ‘Dreamers’ stay in U.S.

Governor Gary Herbert and 10 other governors wrote a letter to congress, urging a bipartisan solution to allow dreamers to remain in this country.

The program protects young undocumented immigrations from deportation and allows them to work legally in the US.

Governor Herbert tweeted “we must ensure a bright future for America’s Dreamers.”

Advocates estimate 10,500 Dreamers live in Utah.

President Trump ordered an end to the Obama-era program because he called it an amnesty-first approach. But he did call on congress to pass a replacement before the protections are phased out.
