WASHINGTON – Angry public feedback has forced the Interior Department to scale back its plans to raise fees in national parks.
The public comments read anything from, “It’s about time rates went up,” to “I would not … repeat not take my family on this trip” because of “exorbitant fees.”
The Washington Post read the first few of 50,000 public comments. Entrance to Zion, Bryce and other national parks nationwide would have risen from $25 to $70 dollars per car.
That would pay for maintenance, repairs and new construction delayed for years.
The Interior Department is still considering some sort of fee hike.
