SALT LAKE CITY — Changes are coming Sunday to nearly all UTA bus and train schedules because the FrontRunner trains are getting a new safety system.

FrontRunner is getting “positive train control,” a federally mandated safety system. The system integrates computer, satellite and radio technology to automatically slow trains that are going too fast. It also makes sure that trains stop at designated locations, and it keeps them from entering unauthorized portions of track. But putting the positive train control system into place means FrontRunner will take slightly more time to travel between Provo and Ogden.

Schedules for most bus routes and all three TRAX lines will change to coordinate with FrontRunner schedules.
