SALT LAKE CITY — Mitt Romney will be on June’s primary ballot in Utah, but that doesn’t mean state Republicans won’t try to stop him from a coronation for U.S. Senate.

Romney is the only GOP candidate in his race to collect signatures to secure his spot.

But Utah Republican delegates may advance more conservative candidates to challenge him in the primary.

Romney has the endorsement of retiring Sen. Orrin Hatch, R-Utah, whom he seeks to replace.

St. George attorney Larry Meyers has endorsements from far-right supporters.

State Rep. Mike Kennedy, R-Alpine, formed a school safety commission, hoping that will shore up his chances.

State party chairman Rob Anderson says he’s ready to quell disruptions at Saturday morning’s convention at the Maverik Center in West Valley City.
