WEST JORDAN — Teachers with Jordan Schools are getting pay raises for the second straight year, and they can apply for even more money on top of that.

Each Jordan School District teacher will see an increase of $3,700 with two straight pay raises totaling $35 million.

The district thanks state lawmakers for the extra cash, which will also cover parking lot duty.

Jordan Schools will also have a $3-million grant from which teachers can apply for extra merit-based raises. Starting pay is now $43,000 yearly.
