SALT LAKE CITY — Federal prosecutors filed charges against three Salt Lake County men accused of trying to break into ATMs by blowing them up or setting them on fire.
A release from U.S. Attorney for Utah John Huber’s office said Brian Winters, Christopher Izatt and Guillermo Cruz are accused in a string of events involving Salt Lake County automatic teller machines in January.
All three defendants have pleaded not guilty to charges of destruction and attempted destruction of property used in interstate commerce and will be held in federal custody. A trial date has been scheduled for June 25, 2018.
Huber’s office said FBI agents used surveillance video and other evidence collected at each of the locations to build the case.
