SALT LAKE CITY — Your electric bill from Rocky Mountain Power is going down. The utility giant received federal tax credits and they’re passing on the savings to their customers.
“Our customers already enjoy some of the lowest power costs in the country, and we are pleased to be able to reduce those rates even more,” said Cindy A. Crane, CEO, and president, Rocky Mountain Power.
“We have been able to reduce bills for our customers several times in recent years, reflecting our commitment to control the costs we can control and provide increased value to our customers,” said Crane.
The Public Service Commission says Rocky Mountain Power reduced the rate by nearly 3.5-percent on May 1 and they expect additional federal tax savings starting in June will save Utahns more than 61-million dollars.
That equates to an average of $32.00 per year for individual customers. The reduced charge is expected to stay in effect until the next scheduled rate hike, which should happen sometime in 2019.
