HOUSTON – A man believed to be the second suspect in a Bountiful pawn shop robbery, which led to a deadly shooting, has been tracked down in Texas.
Alexyanis Jiminez, also known as Alexander Sanchez, was found a few days after investigators spotted the white Saturn Vue that belonged to his deceased partner, Kleydys Arbolaez-Hernandez. It’s the same car that was seen on security video leaving the Bountiful Pawn.
“The license plates had been removed and it was abandoned. The car has been recovered and is being held in evidence, right now,” says Bountiful Police Lieutenant Dave Edwards.
Investigators say Sanchez and Hernandez went into the pawn shop on May 4 and one of them forced the clerk to lay on the floor while the other started to ransack the display cases. While the gunman was distracted, the clerk reportedly ran to a back room, followed by Hernandez. They say the clerk fired a gun at Hernandez and the two fought until Hernandez died. Sanchez reportedly ran away after the shots were fired.
In all, Sanchez and Hernandez are believed to be connected to ten different robbery cases in Utah, including one in West Valley the night before the shooting in Bountiful.
“These began in the very end of January, there were a couple. In February, there were five. None in our area in March but three more in April,” Edwards says.
The pair is also believed to be behind at least five robberies in Oklahoma, New Mexico and Texas. Sanchez is being held in the Harris County Jail on a fugitive warrant out of Oklahoma.
Edwards says, “We’re preparing the same type of warrants and he’s awaiting extradition. As to how that will go, whether we’ll get a first look at him or Oklahoma, that’s yet to be determined.”
