SUMMIT COUNTY — Summer is a time when many Utahns drive on I-80 through Summit County on their way to or from destinations in the county, or elsewhere in Utah and Wyoming.

That includes popular destinations like the Uinta Mountains, Jordanelle Reservoir or Wyoming’s national parks.

For the summer of 2018, those summer trips through Summit County will include a lot of orange barrels and road work. On Sunday, the Utah Department of Transportation started a repaving project on I-80 from Lamb’s Canyon to Kimball Junction.

The plan calls for road crews repaving the freeway ramps at Lamb’s Canyon, then Parleys Summit. Once complete, work will begin to repave mainline I-80.

Paving work will take place during the overnight hours, 7 p.m. to 6 a.m., from Sunday through Fridays through this fall. UDOT said drivers can expect lane closures during the overnight hours in order to accommodate the work.

UDOT is also adding a climbing lane in that area as well.

Their website explains that crews are continuing roadway excavation to prepare for the new westbound climbing lane from Jeremy Ranch to Parleys Summit.
