Grade schooler hailed for helping save baby sister

ST. GEORGE — A seven-year-old girl is being called a hero for knowing exactly what to do when her baby sister was found unconscious in the family swimming pool.

Dylan Ott was playing outside on June 28th when she noticed her sister, Blair, in the water.

Their mother, Andee Ott, pulled the baby out of the water and began CPR immediately, then yelled for Dylan to call 9-1-1.

When paramedics arrived, Blair was breathing.  She was flown to Primary Children’s Hospital in Salt Lake City for treatment, and released Monday, July 2nd, in good health.

Andee Ott says she’s grateful Dylan was able to call 9-1-1.  But, she feels guilty about placing so much pressure on her young daughter. Ott says the 7-year-old remained so calm during the call while she performed CPR on baby Blair.

Dylan gives credit to the dispatcher and paramedics for saving her baby sister, calling it ‘a miracle.’
