MILLCREEK — Unified Police are asking the public for help in identifying a man suspected of fraud after he tried to convince an elderly man that he owed the suspect money for home repairs.

Unified Police Sgt. Melody Gray says a man knocked on the 90-year-old homeowner’s door and persuaded him to believe that he owed the man for repairs made to the roof.

Sgt. Gray says the man agreed to pay the suspect, and went with him to a nearby bank. The man withdrew what UPD calls a “substantial” amount of money while the suspect stood by him inside the bank.

The suspect then drove the man back to his home, and then left the area, says Sgt. Gray. The man’s family later called police after hearing about the situation.

Sgt. Gray says the homeowner and the suspect did not know each other.

Unified Police are releasing security camera footage in effort to identify the man suspected of taking the money.
