OREM — An unusual PSA from one Utah county police department is aiming to remind people about the dangers of kids being left in hot cars.

With camera’s rolling and paramedics standing by Orem Police, Lieutenant Craig Martinez sat in a car that rose almost 30 degrees in just 30 minutes.

He finally got out when the temperature reached 119 degrees.

Lt. Martinez cooked a hot dog, a s’more, and a quesadilla in the stove-like temperatures. His goal was to remind parents never to leave a child or a pet in a hot car.

July is the most dangerous month for hot car deaths. Twenty-one children have died this year.
