TOOELE COUNTY, Utah — Utah wildfire officials say Hot Shot crews are on the scene of a fire burning in Tooele County, north of Grantsville.

They say they are conducting burnout operations on the Ellerbeck Fire. It’s named after Ellerbeck Road which runs along the fire.

It sparked from lightning Monday night, and grew to over a thousand acres overnight. But no structures are threatened.

KSL got a lot of calls and messages about all the smoke coming from the fire.

KSL TV’s Shara Park flew over it in Chopper Five
“The northwest side of the fire is laid down and not moving too much but the southwest side of the fire was still burning,” she said.

It was burning in rocky terrain in the Stansbury Mountain range on the Northwest side, closer to I-80 but not close enough to threaten it in any way.
