Congress could help Utah’s National Parks pay for a backlog of maintenance projects going back several years.
A new proposal would bring in $5.2 billion over five years from energy development in order to help places like Arches, Canyonlands and Zion National Park. Even Timpanogos Cave.
Utah Republican Representative Rob Bishop and Arizona Democrat Raul Grijalva are working together on this. They say the parks are national treasures and it’s time to start treating them that way.
There’s an estimated $12 billion backlog of problems like potholes, bridge repairs, electrical concerns, and restroom upgrades that need to be done.
