SALT LAKE CITY — Imagine Salt Lake’s Pioneer Park with art installations and a doggie cafe, and not homelessness and drug dealers.

Some downtown redevelopment groups hope a series of public-private partnerships will rake in $20 million to build places where owners can eat with their dogs, plus a splash pad and a permanent concert stage.

The groups say Pioneer Park could be open day and night, and the redevelopment would drive crime away.

The groups, including the Pioneer Park Coalition, have already raised $1 million for a new multipurpose field, outdoor lighting, and a surrounding walkway.
