WASHINGTON, D.C. — Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey and Facebook CEO Sheryl Sandberg testified to examine the social media’s role in “fake news” and Russia’s influence in the 2016 presidential election.
Google didn’t even bother showing up but that didn’t stop them from being lectured by senators who thought it would be funny to lecture an empty chair.
These companies that started out as a way to keep in touch with friends and family are now ground zero for Fake News and Russian election meddling.
It is hardly fair to expect that they should have seen this coming.
