LEHI – UDOT is dealing with a pothole on southbound I-15 in Lehi, close to the first pothole that opened up nearby on Friday.

This new pothole, long and a foot deep, busted 25 tires.

“The car was shaking,” said Leo Mendoza of Murray when he hit it. “It was scary. It was bad.”

Samantha Jacobson of Draper said she hit the ground “pretty deep,” adding, “and then my tire instantly was flat.”

About 20 cars lined the right-hand shoulder at the 2100 North exit. UHP Troopers and Incident Management changed 25 tires and towed cars.

Wednesday’s pothole came from heavy morning rains that tore up the old pavement.

“We need to not only address what’s happened here today, but we’re coming into the winter months,” Gleason said. “We want to make sure this isn’t happening on a repeat basis here.”

Crews filled this pothole as they did the other one, which Gleason says was not impacted today.
