Frontrunner train collides with minivan in North Salt Lake

NORTH SALT LAKE — The Utah Transit Authority confirms a Frontrunner train has collided with a vehicle, near Center Street in North Salt Lake.

Remarkably, 400 passengers on the southbound Frontrunner train suffered no injuries. The man inside the minivan had a minor injury.

The smashed minivan has been cleared from the tracks.

UTA warned riders to expect significant delays headed north from the Salt Lake Central and North Temple stations, and headed south from the Woods Cross station.

Reporters on the scene described the vehicle that was struck as a minivan with one person inside, who suffered only minor injuries, even though the train was going at full speed. It’s unclear what caused the accident.

In addition to the impact to train commuters, drivers should expect delays in the area around the crash.

UTA provided bus bridges for hundreds of passengers.
