SALT LAKE CITY — We’re learning more about the new clients that are filling the Gateway Mall in a $100 million makeover.

Some of Gateway’s 1.4 million acres will include new housing, but there’s more to it than that.

“We definitely want to be a tech hub in Salt Lake, because it’s much needed,” said Vestar marketing director Jacklyn Briggs.

Vestar, with more than 50 retail properties in Arizona, California, Colorado, Nevada, Texas, Utah and Washington, bought the mall 2.5 years ago.

Recursion Pharmaceuticals and Kiln co‐working spaces are opening this month.

Briggs says Vestar will devote two-thirds of the property to the arts, entertainment and retail, but adds they’re not locked into any one plan.

“Things are fluid. We’re always trying to continue down the path we set out,” Briggs said.

Gateway has added Dave & Busters, Wiseguy’s Comedy Club, Mystery Escape Room and Wasatch Theatre.
