PLEASANT GROVE — Imagine spending your entire election night waiting to vote. That’s what happened to one Utah County woman.

Lynne Yocum of Pleasant Grove waited 3.5 hours.

“Everybody I was talking to in line really wanted to vote and have their opinion count,” she said. “There were a lot of initiatives on that ballot that needed opinion.”

But she also arrived at her polling place five minutes before it closed.

Yocum says Utah County lacked enough polls, but workers did their best. She made the best of the situation.

“I saw old friends that were in line,” she said. “We sat down and everyone caught up. We made new friends.

“Some guy donated pizza.”

Yocum heard a speech yesterday from Lieutenant Governor Spencer Cox urging people to vote, so she did.

She added that everyone who got in line before polls closed at 8:00 p.m. got to vote.
