NORTH OGDEN — The family of Major Brent Taylor, killed in action in Afghanistan last week, is speaking about the lessons we can learn from his service.

Tamara Taylor says her son did not die in vain.

“It’s been so nice to hear how he helped other people, and how he touched other people because that’s something we can hold onto,” she told NBC News in an exclusive interview airing on KSL TV.

Mrs. Taylor says Utah National Guard Maj. Brent Taylor always knew how to do the right thing.

His brother, Derek, did so much out of North Ogden but never lost his focus.

“As a mayor, as a husband, as a father, as a brother, as a son, as a soldier, I think Christ was always absolutely central,” Derek said.

An Afghan commando the Major was training killed him last week.
