OGDEN — Hundreds of service members, government leaders and family members gathered for the funeral of Utah National Guard Maj. Brent Taylor in Ogden.
“He was a true patriot, and he loved the Constitution of the United States of America,” said Maj. General Jefferson Burton at the Dee Events Center.
“He was respected by his fellow soldiers, and he was also respected by his enemies.”
Eulogies delivered at Weber State University’s Dee Event Center described how Maj. Taylor would resolve fights by not taking sides, but promoting respect between them.
His brother, Captain Derek Taylor, said the Major believed in the resurrection.
“He did not fear death,” Cpt. Taylor said. “Because of this belief, he was able to fulfill his mission in a dangerous country doing dangerous things.”
He added how Maj. Taylor loved the Afghani people, even though one of them, whom he trained, killed him.
Maj. Taylor was laid to rest Saturday at Ben Lomond Cemetery in North Ogden, where he also served as mayor.
