SALT LAKE CITY — It’s Cyber Monday, and while you might be cruising sites like Amazon for those killer deals, thieves might be waiting in the wings for those packages to hit your front porch.
The National Retail Federation estimates that more than 160-million Americans will holiday shop from Thanksgiving through Cyber Monday, and nearly half of those purchases will be done online.
Where Swipers Are Swiping
While you might not have had an order swiped, a new Safewise study shows Salt Lake City as the second-most-likely metro area to have a package stolen during the holidays.
Austin, Texas is the most-likely place to have your package pillaged by porch pirates, according to the study.
Keep The Swipers From Swiping
Retail experts have several suggestions for keeping those precious parcels safe
– Set up email notifications for deliveries
– Ask a neighbor or friend to pick up or deliver that you won’t be able to retrieve immediately
– Have packages sent to your place of business instead of your home
– Install video doorbells
The least-likely place to have a package stolen during the holidays is New York, New York.
