SALT LAKE CITY, Utah — A Utah senator will head to Mexico this weekend, and he’ll try to work on a solution for the migrants at the border.

Sen. Mike Lee, R-Utah, will go with Vice President Mike Pence and the president’s daughter and advisor, Ivanka Trump, on their Mexico trip. They’ll attend the inauguration of the new Mexican president, and they hope to talk about the crisis at the border.

There had been talk of a Safe Third country agreement. But Lee has proposed having asylum seekers wait in Mexico while their claims move through US courts.

He went earlier this month to Mexico to talk about it. Lee told the Deseret News that several officials in the Mexican government told him they are eager to work something out.
