Jenny Wilson plans on running for Salt Lake County Mayor

SALT LAKE CITY – Former U.S. Senate candidate Jenny Wilson plans on running Salt Lake County Mayor which came in an announcement Thursday. She is expected to make her candidacy official tomorrow at 10 a.m.

Wilson will be seeking the seat that current mayor Ben McAdams will vacate when he assumes his position in Congress after win the Utah 4th Congressional District.

“I am excited about this opportunity and will work hard to secure the Democratic Central Committee vote,” Wilson said.

Wilson won the Democrat nomination to run for the U.S. Senate seat against Mitt Romney this year. She lost in the general election on November 6th 63 percent to 31 percent.

She also currently serves on the Salt Lake County Council in an at-large seat. Wilson’s campaign said the Salt Lake County Democratic Central Committee will hold a special election to replace McAdams most likely in late January.
