NORTH SALT LAKE — Porch pirates are one thing, but to have it be the delivery driver? Court documents say an Amazon driver in North Salt Lake was caught stealing people’s stuff.

According to those court documents, police say a resident called officers after he saw the driver swap out a large box for a smaller one on the porch.

North Salt Lake police say they found the truck and questioned 22-year-old Blake Powell. He told them he had a mix-up and must have misplaced some packages.

But when they got permission to search his car, they say they found a laptop stand that was removed from its box. After further questioning, they say he admitted to also taking things a week earlier in Hooper. They say he admitted to taking a jacket, a camera, some soaps and the book “A Savior Is Born.”

Each item is from a different victim and all victims have not been identified yet.

Powell was arrested on five counts of theft.

In response, Amazon sent KSL Newsradio the following statement:

“This kind of behavior is unacceptable and does not reflect the high standards we have for delivery service partners. This individual is no longer delivering Amazon packages, and we are working with law enforcement as they investigate.”
