MURRAY — Three suspects are believed to be at large after a shooting just outside Fashion Place Mall that sent two other people to the hospital.

According to the Murray Police Department, the suspects fled the mall running south after the shooting. They were last seen around 1:30 PM at Winchester Street and Fashion Boulevard. Police are searching the nearby neighborhood and encourage residents who see anything suspicious to contact police.

Two victims, a man and a woman in their early 20s, were taken to the IMC hospital with injuries from the shooting, police said. As of 4:30 PM, the man was in critical condition and the woman had been treated and released.

Police initially encouraged shoppers to take shelter inside stores or in their cars before evacuating the mall, which is now closed. The Taco Bell at 6100 S State Street has been designated as the family reunification point.

Fashion Place Mall’s tweet about the incident notes that it happened outside the shopping center, which was later confirmed by police. Initially, people on the scene told KSL it had happened inside.

Al Collins was inside the mall at the time of the shooting and said that it felt like he couldn’t run fast enough to get outside.

Police now say they believe the shooting may be gang-related.

This is a developing story. More information will be added as it becomes available.
