SALT LAKE CITY – As you walk or drive around you may notice the smog that fills the valley skies and unfortunately the air quality will be moderate (yellow) to “unhealthy for sensitive groups” (orange) for Monday and Tuesday.
It will take a few days for the next storm to really come through and clear out the nasty air. The Utah Department of Environmental Quality says you can expect to see levels in the orange for Salt Lake County Tuesday with today and Wednesday being in the moderate range.
Utah County is also expected to be in the yellow for the next few days. With Cache, Davis, and Weber counties also to be in the moderate levels.
So when is the first storm that should come mix up the air?
“The first round will bring snow to southern and central Utah overnight and during the day on Tuesday,” KSL Meteorologist Dan Guthrie said. “This will predominately be a southern Utah event. Northern Utah won’t see much.”
He says there will be another storm moving in through Tuesday into Wednesday, but northern Utah still will not see much of the moisture.
“Thursday looks like it will bring moderate to heavy rain at times to northern valleys with snow in the mountains,” Guthrie said. “That storm becomes all snow by Friday.”
So those looking for a bit of relief from the smoggy air will have to wait for a few more days.
