SALT LAKE CITY — Police are investigating what they’re calling a murder-suicide today after two people were found dead inside a home in Sugarhouse.

Salt Lake City Police responded to calls last night from neighbors in the Salt Lake City area of 1800 East Ramona Avenue.

“A neighbor heard yelling and thought it could be a home invasion, so that’s what officers responded on,” says Sgt. Brandon Shearer.

Salt Lake City Police say officers found the victim, 27-year-old Sarah Hawley, and suspect, 30-year-old Travis Geddes dead inside the home.

The University of Utah confirms the victim was a first-year medical resident.

Police are being tight-lipped about the details of the investigation, but Sgt. Shearer says they’re proceeding as normal.

“Even though we know who the suspect is at this time, they’ll handle it like they would any other homicide investigation,” Sgt. Shearer says.

Police have not been called to this address before. Geddes does not appear to have a criminal record.
