WASHINGTON, D.C. — Sen. Mitt Romney, R-Utah, has been named the president of the Alfalfa Club in Washington, D.C. He has been a member of the secret society, which includes politicians, business leaders, and billionaires, since 2015.

Romney takes over from another former Massachusetts politician, John Kerry.

The Alfalfa Club is known for throwing a large, extravagant dinner party in D.C. every year that attracts a lot of famous faces and is known for its humor. But other details about the club, including rules and possible other activities, remain private.

It’s unclear what Romney’s responsibilities will be, if any, beyond attending the dinner next year.
