SALT LAKE CITY — Leading up the 2030 Winter Olympics, the organizing committee is asking the 2019 Legislature for $15,000,000 to entice other world-class sporting events to the Beehive state.

Jeff Robbins, President of Utah Sports Commission, says the money would be spent over the next 12 years for both summer and winter events.

“Any money we get from the Legislature would be a bonus,” Robbins adds.

Mayor Jackie Biskupski approves asking for the funds.  She says it will give Utahns the chance to feel the spirit as people from all over the world come here to compete.

The International Olympic Committee is expected to announce which city will host the 2030 Winter Olympics sometime in 2023.
