UTAH – If you purchased “Infants Ibuprofen Concentrated Oral Suspension” labeled to contain 50 mg. of ibuprofen per 1.25 mL, you will want to check the lot numbers.
The medicine was sold at CVS Pharmacy, Walmart and Family Dollar and there are several batches being voluntarily recalled across the nation. This comes due to a higher concentration of medication than was documented on the label.
Tris Pharma says the ibuprofen dosage is nearly ten percent higher than it should be which is leading to the voluntary recall. The manufacturer states the risk of adverse side effects from using it are minimal as liver failure doesn’t occur until receiving over 700 percent of the recommended dose.
Three batches were originally recalled last November, but three more lot numbers are now added to this list.
Lot 4718 — sold in a .5 oz. bottle with an expiration date of Dec. 2019 and lot 00717006A –sold in a 1 oz. bottle with an expiration date of Feb. 2019, were manufactured under the “CVS Health” label, according to the release.
Lot 00717005A — sold in a 1 oz. bottle with an expiration date of Feb. 2019 — was manufactured under the “Equate” label for Walmart.
Consumers who have a bottle of medication impacted by the recall should consult their doctor for guidance, the company’s release says.
