Pickleball is the latest sports craze sweeping across America. So what is pickleball? It’s a game played special paddles and a ball similar to a wiffle ball. A lower net and a smaller court allows the game to be accessible to people of all ages and abilities.

To promote exercise for seniors, the Brigham City Senior Center brought pickleball to Box Elder County. The Center has a pickleball complex that is used by beginning and advanced players. Pickleball is played by seniors who have had hip or knee replacements, shoulder surgery, or tennis elbow. Even those who have had cancer, a stroke, a heart attack, or diabetes can get out there on the court and enjoy a good workout.

Pickleball players at the Brigham City Senior Center enjoy this highly social activity that brings them together to enjoy an active lifestyle. Local seniors can also qualify for participation at the Huntsman Senior Games and the Senior Olympics.

SelectHealth recognizes the healthy lifestyle promotion from the Brigham City Senior Center as another example of how Utah Gives Back.
