Most seniors want to live an independent and healthy life. But many are unable to get around or take care of their own needs. The Cache County Senior Citizens Center provides the Meals on Wheels program to individuals over 60 who are homebound, disabled, or at risk. Volunteers from the program deliver a hot meal and make personal contact to ensure seniors health and safety.
Meals on Wheels bridges a gap between being able to live independently in their own homes and requiring outside care. Volunteers not only deliver a nutritious meal daily, they take time to visit and offer additional service. Many times volunteers bring in the mail or take out the trash. These small acts of kindness are often just what seniors need to maintain their personal safety, independence, and happiness. Last year volunteers traveled 10,000 miles for the program.
