In an effort to prevent childhood injury and death, Primary Children’s Hospital has a safety program aimed at getting everyone to wear a helmet. It’s important to wear one every time you roller blade, bike, skateboard, or scooter – no matter what your age.

Be sure your helmet has an ANSI or SNELL label certifying it’s safe. Adjust the straps so it can’t be moved side to side or back and forth. Finally, there should be about one finger width between the chin strap and the chin. A helmet only works when you wear it. Set an example by wearing a helmet and encouraging your family to wear one too.

Primary Children’s Hospital also has new ATV safety campaign called “Safe Trails: Serious Fun.” Remarkably, riding an ATV is a thousand times more dangerous than riding in a car.
There are many safety precautions and preparations to take when riding an ATV, such as wearing a helmet; riding the proper size of vehicle for age, size, and ability; taking a certification course; and always riding on approved trails.
SelectHealth recognizes the safety education provided by Primary Children’s Hospital as another example of how Utah Gives Back.
