P.J.’s Forgotten Children is dedicated to bringing joy, comfort, and dignity to those who suffer from the effects of mental illness. The program helps give hope to others, making them feel successful and gives relief to the suffering.
Mental Health professionals submit names of children who are in treatment or have a family member affected by mental health issues. Many of these families are also challenged with financial obligations and may struggle with poverty. Donations such as toys, handmade stockings, quilts, clothing, and cash donations from businesses and individuals are distributed to the children at Christmastime. Other programs throughout the year include back-to-school supplies and baby gift baskets for new mothers.
Volunteers serve the needs of children by preparing hygiene kits, arts and craft supplies, and stockings to fill Santa bags for each child. On average, volunteers contribute more than six thousand hours to this program each year benefiting more than fifteen hundred children from their services.
SelectHealth recognizes the charitable work provided by PJ’s Forgotten Children as another example of how Utah Gives Back.
