September is blood cancer awareness month, and the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society is the world’s largest voluntary health agency dedicated to finding cures for cancer and improving the quality of life for blood cancer patients and their families. They are the voice for patients and survivors, and are working to ensure access to quality, affordable care.
Since there are no means of preventing or screening for most blood cancers, they focus on finding cures. Once unimaginable, new breakthrough treatments and more precisely targeted therapies are being developed and approved.
Everyone has the power to save lives. The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s Light The Night Walk is a unique event that brings together families and communities to honor blood cancer survivors, as well as those lost to the disease, and shine a light on the importance of finding cures and providing access to treatments. Utah’s Walk will be held at Library Square on Saturday, October 8th. Visit www.lightthenight.org to sign up and join their crusade to cure blood cancers.
SelectHealth recognizes the life-saving impact provided by The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society as another example of how Utah Gives Back.
