October is crime prevention month, and the Utah Council for Crime Prevention is Utah’s Champion for Children, protecting children and their families and creating safe school spaces. They implement positive prevention strategies to reduce violence, substance abuse and crime problems in Utah communities. They accomplish this through mobilization, education, advocacy, and training of all ages and through coordination with neighborhoods, schools, community groups, and law enforcement agencies.
The Utah Council for Crime Prevention has many programs that are making a difference, including D.A.R.E., Neighborhood Watch, and Utah Crime Solvers. They also look at critical issues facing families and design educational programs to educate youth about concerns such as drugs, suicide prevention, bullying, and distracted driving.
Join them for family events on October 14th and 15th at the Utah Cultural Celebration Center. They will have activities to kick off red ribbon week including a drum bus, and holding workshops. Register at www.utahcrimeprevention.org.
SelectHealth recognizes the educational campaigns from the Utah Council for Crime Prevention as another example of how Utah Gives Back.
