Cancer knows no boundaries, affecting individuals from all walks of life. Kids with cancer and their siblings are often isolated from peers, missing opportunities for growth and companionship with others.
Camp Hobe is an annual summer camp for children and teens being treated for cancer and their siblings. While at camp, kids grow in spirit, strength, and understanding. They play outside, discover the joy and freedom of being away from the confines of a hospital, and temporarily displace any fears about what the future holds. Children are given the freedom to “just be kids.”
Camp Hobe not only promotes physical well-being, but also emotional and mental health, as campers are able to jump and play as normal kids, as well as connect with those who have gone through the same experiences as themselves. They realize they are not alone and return home rejuvenated.
