It’s that time of year again to visit one of the many great farmers markets in Utah, from Bountiful to South Jordan to Ivins. And we have a nationally recognized one right here in Salt Lake City. Since its creation in 1992, the Downtown Farmers Market has become a summer tradition for residents and visitors. Located in historic Pioneer Park, the Saturday Farmers Market has infused vitality into the middle ground between East and West neighborhoods.
The mission of the Market is to support sustainable, regional agriculture; to build community gathering places; to increase access to nutritious, local foods in urban areas; and to educate consumers about shopping local.
The vendors at the market represent more than 100 local farms and ranches. In addition to fruits and vegetables, you will find handmade, locally-produced food items, beverages, and works of art. Markets are held on Saturday mornings from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. in Pioneer Park through October 21st.
SelectHealth recognizes the local food movement from farmers markets as another example of how Utah Gives Back.
