The Hope Alliance was established to empower lives and to improve social well-being. They partner with communities to provide assistance for impoverished individuals. They offer vision, dental, and medical programs as well as the basic needs like food and water locally and around the world.
In Utah, they provide three to four vision clinics per year on the Goshute Reservation and serve around twenty-five patients at each clinic. Patients receive a full eye exam, education on diabetes and vision loss, and a free pair of eye glasses. Many of the patients that are seen at the clinic struggle with outdated prescriptions or without glasses of any kind.
The Hope Alliance’s goal is to preserve the eye health of vulnerable populations that have remote access to health services. Their eye education also helps to preserve vision and address preventable causes of blindness. Eye exams and the preservation of an individual’s remaining sight is a crucial need.
SelectHealth recognizes the dedication of The Hope Alliance as another example of how Utah Gives Back.
