The transcontinental railroad will celebrate its 150th anniversary this year. Doug Wright will look into the impact the railroad had on Utah’s statehood, commerce, population and more. Utah is honored and excited to host the Transcontinental Railroad’s 150th birthday party at the Golden Spike National Historic Site May 10th through 12th, 2019.

A day in the life of a teacher; an in-depth look into teacher morale, recruitment, and retention; the cost of education and who is really picking up the tab; whether or not college is really the right path for everyone

12:00 PM “The Saints in St. Louis – a Gateway to Zion” with Mary Richards
The Museum at the Gateway Arch in St. Louis, Missouri, has always told the story of westward expansion. Around 22,000 Latter-day Saint pioneers came through St. Louis and stayed weeks, months, or years before heading west to Utah. Mary Richards will dive into how the area played a crucial role in the Church’s immigration.
1:00 PM “Home Centered – How Latter-day Saint Families Are Changing and Adapting to Studying Together” with Jay McFarland
Has the new two-hour church schedule changed peoples’ relationship with the service? Randall Jepsen will talk with JayMac about 4 different families he interviewed to see how the change has been received if members are incorporating an hour of home worship, and how it has changed attendance
