SUMMIT COUNTY, UTAH – A family dispute in a Summit County hotel sent a man to the hospital with non-life-threatening gunshot wounds, which he said his brother inflicted.

At 2:43 AM on Sunday morning, the Summit County Sheriff’s Office received a call from the man claiming his brother had shot him during an argument, Lt. Andrew Wright wrote in a press release.

Christopher Leahy Head, 32, of South Jordan was booked into the Summit County Jail on investigation of attempted homicide, carrying a dangerous weapon while under the influence of alcohol and several other charges.

According to Wright, Head and his brother got into an argument while staying at the Westgate Hotel with their families. At some point in the dispute, investigators say, Head was said to have produced a handgun and started firing. One of the bullets struck the victim in the right buttocks; another embedded itself in the wall.

The victim was taken to a Salt Lake area hospital where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Several family members, including children, were present during the altercation, Wright said. No other injuries were reported, but Head is being charged with reckless endangerment and domestic violence in front of a child.

Head is being held in the Summit County Jail on $100,000 bail.
