SALT LAKE CITY — Utah businesses, retailers and farmers are bracing for the impact they may see from tariffs from China.
Farmers say they know tariffs are hurting the ag industry in our state, but others told KSL TV they feel the President knows what he’s doing.
Utah farmers union president Mark Gibbons says dairy farmers are already struggling from low milk prices.
“You’re dependent on what the market will bear and what you can sell every day,” he said.
And some small business owners and retailers talked to the Deseret News about tariff hikes leading to higher prices on the products they sell.
“What we can do is focus on the things that we do well and how we can make money and just try to be one of the stores still standing when the dust clears,” said Wasatch Touring manager Dylan Timmer.
They say they can absorb some of the costs but there’s a limit to how much they can handle it.
