LOGAN, Utah — Logan City Police Department have released surveillance footage of the 21-year-old suspect Alex Whipple and are asking for the public’s help to look for any more video footage that may have been captured by home security or smart doorbell systems.

Whipple has been named by police as a suspect in the disappearance of his 5-year-old niece Elizabeth Shelley. He is in custody in the Cache County Jail.

Logan Police have said that Whipple has been uncooperative in their interviews with him since he was taken into custody Saturday on a parole violation.

According to a Facebook post from Logan PD, Whipple arrived at the Shelley home at 2 a.m. on Saturday morning before the family went to bed. When they woke up the next morning, both Whipple and Elizabeth, whom the family calls Lizzy, were gone.

Logan Police Captain Tyson Budge says police were able to collect evidence that he says forensically tied the two together.
