SALT LAKE CITY — Chefs, cocktail mixers and coffee experts from the Beehive State are being sent across the country by the State Tourism office to meet with 100 of the country’s top foodies.

Tourism officials hope to surprise some of these top food writers from around the country by showing them that Salt Lake City has some serious culinary talent.

Utah Director of Tourism Vicki Varela says many of the chefs have worked and earned praise all over the world.

“Many of them have been in target food markets all over the world and have chosen to come back, or relocate to Utah,” she said.

“I think we’re going to take people by surprise, and that’s what our intent is.”
