SALT LAKE COUNTY– As the 2020 election draws closer, anticipated elected officials are making announcements about whether they plan on running for reelection. Republican Senator Dan McCay is no different.

In a statement released by Senator McCay Monday said while he is “grateful for the encouragement I’ve received to run for Utah’s Fourth Congressional District,” he will not be “seeking the Republican nomination to represent Utah in the US House of Representatives.”

While McCay may not be running for the House seat against Democratic Ben McAdams, he did mention McAdam’s “politics represent a serious speed bump just as America is picking up economic speed.” McCay is advocating for a “strong conservative voice” that will keep Utah’s “strong record of conservative policies.”

Ben McAdams replaced Republican Mia Love in the U.S. House of Representative in 2018. McAdams is up for reelection in 2020.
